Amedspor announced the signing of goalkeeper Alban Lafont on 22 July. The 27-year-old put pen to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season, becoming one of the most experienced names in the club's first-ever Süper Lig squad.
Lafont began his career in France at Toulouse, moved on to Fiorentina in Italy, and then spent a long spell at Nantes. In other words, this is a goalkeeper who has played regularly in two of Europe's major leagues — Ligue 1 and Serie A. After years in France's youth national teams, he switched to Ivory Coast in 2025 and was named in their squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Announcing the transfer, the club described Lafont as "one of the experienced goalkeepers of European football" and wished him a successful season in the green and red. He is the second addition between the posts this summer; alongside Mustafa Burak Bozan, signed from Gaziantep FK, the position is now covered by two keepers from very different schools.
The choice a club makes in goal for its first top-flight season says a great deal about how much it believes in itself. Preparing for its first Süper Lig campaign, Amedspor did not leave that job to trial and error — it handed it to a goalkeeper already tested in Europe. That is the kind of decision that turns into points on the pitch and confidence in the stands.
