Amedspor beat Erzurumspor FK 3-0 at Diyarbakır Stadium on 16 August in the opening week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. It was the first top-flight match in the club's history — and it ended in a first win.
One of the decisive moments came as early as the third minute, when Fernando put the ball in the net for Erzurumspor only for the goal to be ruled out for handball after a VAR review. Dia Saba also had a first-half goal disallowed for offside, and the teams went in level at the break. Halil Umut Meler took charge of the match.
The second half was a different story. Saba opened the scoring on 53 minutes and added his second nine minutes later, on 62. On 70 minutes Gökhan Gül made it three — a player who had signed in front of thousands outside Amedstore only six days earlier, finding the net on his first competitive appearance. After three minutes of stoppage time, the final whistle confirmed it: 3-0.
Amedspor lined up with Lafont; Mehmet, David, Lumbardh, Ermal; Rayan, Cem, Yira; Dia, Orban and Diagne. Those first ninety minutes of top-flight football at Diyarbakır Stadium were the most tangible reward yet for a journey that stretches back to the 1990s. Amed had waited a long time for this evening. It was worth the wait.
