Week One Is Complete in the Süper Lig — and Amedspor Are Top

The opening week of the Trendyol Süper Lig is complete, and Amedspor sit at the top of the table. Their 3-0 win over Erzurumspor FK put them ahead of the other sides on three points thanks to a goal difference of +3.

Five teams took maximum points in week one. Behind Amedspor come Başakşehir, 2-0 winners, Gençlerbirliği, who won 2-1, and Beşiktaş and Çaykur Rizespor, both 1-0. What lifted Amedspor above them was the widest winning margin of the round, and a clean sheet to go with it.

Elsewhere the round produced plenty of talking points: Galatasaray were held 2-2 by Arca Çorum FK, Fenerbahçe lost 2-1 at Gençlerbirliği, and Trabzonspor drew 1-1 away at Kasımpaşa. Gaziantep FK and Alanyaspor finished 1-1, Samsunspor and Göztepe 3-3. Konyaspor lost 1-0 at home to Çaykur Rizespor, Beşiktaş beat Eyüpspor 1-0, and Başakşehir saw off Kocaelispor 2-0.

Topping the table after one week is not a title, of course — it is the first step of a 34-week road. But seeing Amed's name on the top line of the Süper Lig table is, in itself, an answer for a club that spent so many years in the lower divisions. Holding that place starts with the trip to Kocaeli.
