Amedspor have signed Scottish centre-back David Bates on a two-year contract with a one-year option, the club announced. The defender becomes the second confirmed arrival of the summer, following winger Ermal Krasniqi.
Bates, 29, built his career in Scottish and German football, with spells at Rangers in Glasgow and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga's second tier. He arrives to reinforce the centre of a defence preparing for top-flight football for the first time in the club's history.
The official announcement was reported by Yeni Şafak among other national outlets. Bates joins a back line that will face the Süper Lig's leading forwards from mid-August.
A promoted side's first duty is a defence that belongs at the level. In Bates, the Kurdish club adds physical presence and the experience of two demanding football cultures — a signing made for staying up, and for standing tall.
