Dia Saba Scored Amedspor's First Ever Süper Lig Goals

Amedspor's first ever Süper Lig goal arrived on the evening of 16 August, in the 53rd minute, off the boot of Dia Saba. Nine minutes later the same player added a second; two of the three goals in the win over Erzurumspor were his.

The 33-year-old forward joined the club last summer from Maccabi Haifa. The message he posted from the plane as he landed in Diyarbakır — "Bijî Amedspor" — closed the distance between him and the supporters within hours of his arrival. The crowd that met him at the airport is still there in the photographs from that day.

Saba's career spans a wide geography: Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Maccabi Netanya in Israel, then Guangzhou R&F in China, Al Nasr in the United Arab Emirates, and Sivasspor in Turkey during the 2022-23 season. He arrived as a player who already knew the Süper Lig, and he repaid that in week one.

After the match, head coach Besnik Hasi said Saba had scored two fine goals and had earned the reward for his work. The goals a club scores on its first appearance in the top flight go into the record and stay there. The first name in Amedspor's is Dia Saba.
