Amedspor's first five weeks
The hosts have built their season largely at home. All three matches at the Amed Stadium were won, with 10 goals scored and only one conceded. The two away fixtures brought a single point.
In the most recent match Gift Orban scored a hat-trick on 52, 56 and 75 minutes, and Mbaye Diagne made it five on 84. The scoring had been opened by an Emin Bayram own goal on 45+1.
A call for common sense from Beşiktaş supporters
Nine days before the match, on 11 September, a group of Beşiktaş supporters issued a call for common sense and sportsmanship ahead of the fixture in Amed. Their statement asked for a stand against racist, discriminatory and hateful language in the terraces.
In the same statement the supporters underlined that they were travelling to back their team, not to start a fight, and appealed for level heads in the face of any provocation. The names of those behind the statement were not made public. The text is clear enough, and is reported here as it stands.
The terraces and the responsibility they carry
How a match is remembered is often decided less by the ninety minutes than by the language set in the stands. On the evening of 20 September two sets of supporters will be under the same roof. A home terrace that keeps its own measure is the most concrete backing it can give the team on the pitch.
