The Kurdish music group Koma Amed will play a concert in İstanbul on 30 September 2026. The concert will be held at the Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre in Harbiye. The announcement came with the venue's September concert programme, between 31 August and 9 September 2026.

From 1988 to now
Koma Amed was founded in 1988. Its name is the Kurdish name of the city it was founded in: Amed (Diyarbakır).
Its first album, "Kulîlka Azadî", was released in 1990. The second, "Dergûş", followed in 1997. Those two records are still what the group is best known by.
The first concert after thirty years: Newroz Park
After a gap of roughly thirty years, the group played its first concert on 25 October 2025. It took place in Amed, in Newroz Park. The return to the stage happened in the city whose name the group carries.

Ticket information and the concert running order are not the subject of this report. The subject is a single line: the name of a group that sings in Kurdish stands on the September calendar of İstanbul's best-known open-air stage. The place of Kurdish in schools is a separate record — the Kurmanji teaching positions opened in Amed. Both are the same language, in two places.
Two groups carrying the same name
